mono virus stays one in his life time

The way mono works in the body is tricky, so lots of people are confused about how long it is contagious. Once someone gets mono, the virus stays in that person's body for life. That doesn't mean that you are always contagious if you've had mono. But the virus can surface from time to time and risk infecting someone else.
Here's how it works:
Mono is short for mononucleosis. It is caused by an infection with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV).

People who have mono can be contagious from the time they first become infected with the virus. But they may not know that they have the virus at first. That's because it takes a while from the time someone gets infected to the time symptoms of mono (like tiredness, fever, muscle aches, headache, or sore throat) show up — about 4 to 7 weeks in fact. This is called the incubation period.
To make things even more confusing, some people can carry the virus without ever getting any symptoms of mono. So they might not even know they have the infection.
Mono needs to run its course naturally. Symptoms may last 2 to 4 weeks, and some people feel tired for several weeks longer (that's why it's important to take care of yourself and get lots of rest).
Doctors and researchers aren't exactly sure how long people with mono stay contagious after symptoms are gone. They believe that people can spread the infection for many months after their symptoms are completely gone — some studies show as long as 18 months. After that, the virus remains dormant (inactive) in the body for the rest of a person's life.
If you've had mono, the virus can find its way into your saliva at times. When that happens, it can spread to other people, even though you don't feel ill or show any signs of having mono.
The bottom line is that it's hard to prevent mono from spreading. That's why you'll want to wash your hands often and avoid sharing drinks and eating utensils with others.

There was an ancient Upper Nile population called Anu/Annu. They were the original builders of the shrine at Heliopolis. Archaeological images show these Anu elders with head dresses with a protruding frontal piece. This resembles (is almost exactly like) the head gear worn by the Ainu elders in the 1920's photos I have seen from Northern Japan. These, in turn are exactly like those worn by the Ainu (Micmac) elders of the Eastern Canada seaboard. Any ideas about this possible connection?

I have him at 139 mph.

He used to serve a tad faster on average in the past. As of now, is probably between 122 and 128 mph. He used to serve around 125 - 132 with the ocasional 135, 136 mph serve.

 베트남의 과거를 이해하려면 ‘바잉 미(Banh Mi)’를 먹어라!

한국에 부대찌개가 있다면, 베트남엔  바잉 미(Banh Mi)가 있다?!

가난하던 옛날 미군부대에서 흘러나온 햄과 소시지는 단백질에 굶주린 한민족이 어떻게든 수용해야만 하는 귀중한 영양원이었다. 한 번도 접해보지 못한 엄청난 느끼함을 기어코 중화하기 위해 그 무렵 한국인들은 신 김치를 이용했다. 오늘날 우리가 즐겨 먹는 별식이 된 부대찌개는 대한민국의 슬픈 근대사가 녹아 있는 역사적인 음식이다.

“길거리에서 많이 파는데 아마 500원쯤 할 거야. 눈에 띄면 한 번 먹어보도록 해요.”

베트남 미식 여행을 떠나며 조언을 구한 지인에게 내가 추천한 것은 요리라고 부르기에는 너무 초라한 음식, 제대로 된 식당에서는 절대 찾아볼 수 없는 길거리 음식이다. 바로 베트남식 샌드위치인 ‘바잉미(Banh Mi)’.

중국과 태국, 라오스와 캄보디아 등 이웃 세력 말고도 베트남의 음식 문화에 지대한 영향력을 행사한 또 하나의 국가가 있었으니 멀고 먼 유럽의 프랑스. 오늘날 베트남 요리는 와인과 가장 잘 어울리는-어쩌면 유일한- 아시아 음식이다.
      
19세기부터 약 100년간 베트남을 점령했던 프랑스의 영향은 디너의 가격대가 베트남인의 평균 월급을 훌쩍 넘어서는 고급 프렌치 식당들보다는 오히려 길거리에 즐비한 소박한 가게들에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 프랑스인이 베트남에 들여온 것들 중에 맥주, 아이스크림, 카페오레, 그리고 바게트가 있다.

그중에서 바게트. 프랑스의 상징과도 같은 길쭉한 모양의 담백한 빵이다. 오늘날 베트남 어느 시장에 가나 한 귀퉁이에서 이 빵을 산더미처럼 쌓아놓고 파는 것을 볼 수 있다.
30센티미터가 좀 안 되는 길이의 바게트다. 빵집도 아니고 시장통에 쌓아놓고 파는 바게트. 그러나 우습게 보는 것은 금물이다. 프랑스 본토 바게트의 그저그런 아류가 절대 아니다. 겉은 바삭하고 속은 아주 부드럽다. 서울의 웬만한 빵집에서 파는 바게트보다 훨씬 훌륭하다면 믿으시겠는지. 한 개에 100원 이하.

반미는 이 바게트를 이용하여 만든 샌드위치다. 오늘날 베트남 길거리에서 찾아볼 수 있는 프랑스 식민 시절의 가장 뚜렷한 흔적이다. 미국에 햄버거가 있다면 베트남에는 반미가 있다. 베트남 어디를 가나 길모퉁이에, 나무그늘 아래, 시장 입구에서 반미를 만들어 파는 이동식 가게를 볼 수 있다.

반미를 먹어보자. 우선 재료를 담은 유리 상자를 얹어놓은 노점을 찾아야 한다.
저기 하나 보인다. 반미 장수는 친구와 잡담하다가, 허리를 굽히고 또깍 발톱을 깎다가, 혹은 샌드위치 재료를 손질하다가 손님이 다가오면 주문을 받는다.

준비되어 있는 재료들로 즉시 만들기 시작한다. 무딘 칼로 쓱싹쓱싹 빵가루를 날리며 바게트를 옆으로 가른다. 아래위로 얇게 버터를 바르는 것까지는 프랑스식과 다를 바가 없다. 스타일이 달라지는 것은 그다음부터다. 우리가 알고 있는 일반적인 햄 대신 베트남식 기름투성이 햄 조각을 끼우거나 돼지고기의 어느 부위로 만들었는지 정체가 모호한 파테를 잼처럼 마구 바른다. 조금 불안해지기 시작한다.

좀 더 고급으로 가면 숯불에 구워낸 돼지고기를 잘게 썬 것, 또는 토마토소스에 부글부글 조려낸 고기 완자를 넣기도 한다. 저게 과연 바게트에 어울릴까? 상추, 그리고 고수도 약간 집어넣는다. 얇게 썬 오이 몇 조각과 베트남 요리의 단골 재료인 푸른 쪽파를 첨가한 후 마지막 비법처럼 뭔가를 듬뿍 뿌려 완성한다. 구리구리한 냄새 물씬 풍기는 피시소스, 느억맘이다. 바게트에 쪽파로도 모자라 멸치액젓이라니, 얼마나 괴상망측한 맛이냐고?

“대체로 다 맛있었어요. 하지만 그중에서도 제일 맛나게 먹은 것은….”

베트남식 아침식사

베트남 식도락 여행을 무사히 마친 지인이 귀국했다. 하노이의 유명 국수집인 ‘포 24’, 가격 대비 뛰어난 뷔페 음식으로 이름난 ‘브러더스 카페’, 달착지근한 가물치 요리로 전국적인 명성을 얻은 ‘차카라봉’ 등을 계획대로 방문, 식사를 했다고 한다.

영광의 1위를 차지한 것은 물론 반미.
프랑스가 자랑하는 바게트의 맛에 베트남 향기 짙게 풍기는 동양적 재료가 절묘하게 녹아들어 그야말로 환상적인 맛이었다고.

“노점에서 사다가 하루에 두 번씩 먹었어요. 너무 맛있어서, 아예 식당은 가지 말고 이걸로 때워버리고 말까 고민한 적도 있었다니까요.”

이쯤이면 혼혈 샌드위치의의 맛에 대한 설명은 충분히 되었으리라. 베트남의 과거를 이해하기 위해 놓쳐서는 안 되는 식도락 경험이다.

요리의 기본은 재료의 특징을 이해하고 균형을 맞추는 일이다. 반미는 한국의 부대찌개가 그런 것처럼 프랑스와 베트남의 절충점을 찾아서 맛의 특징이자 장점으로 삼아버린 음식이다. 정치인보다 요리사가 몇 배 더 평화주의자일 수밖에 없는 이유를 더 이상 설명할 필요가 있을까.

아침마다 사과와 계란 하나를 챙겨먹기로 했다! 오늘부터 실천중이다. 
커피도 하루 한잔으로 줄일거다 (물론 시험기간은 예외...팀미팅 전날도 예외....)
단거도 다른 사람이 주는 거 아니면 안먹을 거다...
내 건강검진 결과 중에서, 좋은 콜레스테롤인 HDL이 매우 높은 아주 바람직한 내용이 있었지만, 나쁜 콜레스테롤인 LDL이 주의단계라는 아주 충격적인 내용이 있었다......
이건 기름진 음식을 먹어야만 생기는 것이 아니라,

즉, 단당류 (표면적이 매우 작은 아이들로서, 섭취하자마자 흡수가 되어 당을 일시적으로 팍! 높이는 것들)로 주로 이루어진 아이들을 먹었을 때에도 severe하게 악영향을 미친다고 한다.
평소에 내가 좋아하는 것이 달다구리 (완전 좋아함), 떡 (완전 좋아함), 밥, 떡, 떡, 떡, 빵, 빵, 빵, 달달, 달달, 달달한것...이니 이건 예상된 결과겠지...ㅠㅠ

아빠가 죽기전에 정신차리라고 했다;;; 그 정돈 아니지만 주의해야겠다.
예전엔 HDL 결과만 보고선 좋아했던 건강검진이 있었는데 이걸 보니 아 난 아직 애구나....식습관 하나도 조절못하는 아이인가...라는 생각이 든다. 부모님이 안그래도 떨어져 있는데 걱정이라도 덜어드리게 열심히 노력해야겠다.ㅠㅠ

Federer's backhand slice has been measured as having the highest spin rate of any groundstroke, measured at 5300 rpm. Nadal's highest measured forehand is 4900rpm. Interestingly overall the average spin rates of slices have increased most out of all shots in tennis. Nadal and Federer both have a higher average rpm for backhand slices than for their topspin forehands.

So it seems that not only has topspin been affected by the changes in technology, but slice has been affected even more. It seems that players hit the ball more aggressively downward and drive it less nowadays.

What do you guys make of this development?

Being to all 3 countries I would say I was surprised by the amount of fair people in southern spain, I would say they are the fairest of the 3 on average, Italians are sligthly darker on average but tend to have different facial features to the spanish. Whereas upon arriving in Athens I felt like I had arrived in the Middle East. You do see some fairer people but generally the populations features has similarities with the turkish/Lebanese. A lot of dishes were similar to those of the Middle East so I can understand the mix. The moors that did live in southern spain and Italy were forced out of those lands so I guess that's why I didn't see as much Arabic influence in the people of those countries.
